I did not grow up planning to work in construction. I found welding by accident in high school when it was the only elective left to take. What started as chance quickly turned into something I loved. I competed in welding, went to trade school for it, and stepped into the blue collar world early. From shutdowns in paper mills, refineries, and power plants to construction sites and everything in between, I learned what that life really looks like. Early mornings, long days, hard work, and the responsibility that comes with providing for yourself and the people depending on you.
I also learned something bigger than the work itself. Blue collar is a brotherhood. It is a community of people who look after each other, push each other, and understand what it means to carry your weight. There is pride in that, and there is respect that comes with it. Blue collar work has shaped my life and provided for my family. It taught me pride in my trade, respect for hard work, and the value of showing up even when no one is watching.
